Dear Wes,

Thanks for your comments and for visiting CanoeNI.com.

I'm glad you had an enjoyable day on the Lower Bann.

I agree there are several canoe steps etc not marked on the Canoe Trail Guide / Website.

There are several reasons for this however it is mainly because they either did not exist in 2009 when the Lower Bann Canoe Trail was launched or we are unable unable to negotiate access or a maintenance agreement with the landowner.

Any additions to the trail (including a campsite we are developing) will be added when the canoe trail guide is due for reprint - unfortunatley we do not have the budget to do this any sooner.

For example we are currently working on a revision of the Lough Erne Canoe Trail Guide which has a significant amount of infrastructure added from the previous guide created in 2005. This will be available shortly.

Regards
Chris

Did Newferry to Portna Lock as a recce for the whole river next year. I noticed a few other canoe steps not marked on CanoeNI along the way (e.g. Bracknamuckley Wood) - it might be useful to mark these as well as places with multiple facilities for the purposes of planning longer trips and rough camping.

Paddled from Coleraine Marina to Camus the other day in a two person canadian canoe. Loved it. It felt very wild in parts and it was great to see so many herons clearly flourishing. The guy at Cutts Locks was very helpful, as was Robin Ruddock who we hired the canoe from.

Graeme ,

Thanks for your comments and for visiting CanoeNI.com.

The intineraries section of each trail will include driving directions for shuttles. For example direction for those paddlers wishing to carry out a shuttle for the full length of the Lower Bann Canoe Trail can be found at http://www.canoeni.com/canoe-trails/lower-bann/itineraries/?id=13

There are also canoe hire operators which will offer a transfer service - for the Lower Bann these are listed here http://www.canoeni.com/canoe-trails/lower-bann/canoe-hire/

I hope this answer your queries. If not please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards
Chris
