Need to get away from it all? Great! Our Canoe hire offers you the flexibility to do what you want to do when you want to do it and at your pace!

From the Lough Erne Canoe Trail to the Strangford Lough Kayak Trail or simply the fantastic waterways literally on the doorsteps of each of our centres such as Castlewellan Lake, theres something for everyone from novice to experienced paddler.

As such all our hires include all the necessary base equipment along with free local advice from our dedicated instructors. Should you wish you can scale up your package to include everything you need for a multi day expedition to include having a guide to maximise your time.

Hires are available every Saturday and Sunday from the 1st of September 2009 until the 30th June 2010 or on alternative days subject to availability.

Introduction to Canoe / Kayak Skills

This course will give you all the necessary skills to be able to paddle a canoe or Kayak safely and enjoy the local waterways.
You will be taught, by experienced and qualified instructors, the many different skills and strokes needed to be able to master a canoe or kayak without capsizing and learn what to do if you are to capsize!
You will also work towards and receive a Nationally recognised, Canoe Association of Northern Ireland, certificate.

Thiis is a two day non-residential course.

Learn to Kayak Weekend

CLEARSKY Adventure Centre’s base on the shores of Strangford Lough makes the perfect venue for this exciting ‘learn to kayak’ weekend.

Available: 29th-30th May 2010
(other dates available for similar package for group bookings, please ask)

Ideal for beginners, using our state-of-the-art kayaks and paddles you will learn the key skills involved with controlling the kayak and ultimately gain the confidence to relax and explore the lough under the watchful eye of our patient and friendly instructors!

Then on your second day venture further into the waters of Strangford Lough, exploring islands, mingling with the loughs wildlife and seals, learning more, perfecting your new found skills and becoming a more confident paddler.

Package Price includes:
- one night bed & breakfast in Barholm - our accommodation with all the home comforts.
- group dinner in a local hotel with a glass of wine or a beer.
- complimentary transport to/from accommodation/activity centre for scheduled activities
- complimentary bike hire during your free time.

Sea Kayaking 6 for the price of 4!

How about effortlessly gliding through the calm waters of Strangford Lough? This is one of our favourite locations in Northern Ireland for kayaking. Beginning at Portaferry or Whiterock, you'll be rewarded with an abundance of marine creatures, astonishing scenery, uninhabited islands and beautiful wildlife. You never know, you might even get a seal or porpoise popping up beside you!

This guided tour with one of our qualified and enthusiastic coaches lasts 2-3 hours and will provide you with an unforgettable experience exploring this beautiful body of water.

All the equipment is provided; boat, buoyancy aid, spray deck and paddle. There’s no need for any special kit, all you need to do is turn up in comfortable clothing and bring an old pair of trainers and a waterproof jacket, with a change of clothes in case you get wet. Of course, if you have your own wetsuit, gear or equipment, you are welcome to bring those too.

Sea Kayaking Expedition on Strangford Lough

Exploring this area of natural beauty, you'll be rewarded with an abundance of marine creatures, astonishing scenery, uninhabited islands and beautiful wildlife, before camping overnight on Salt Island.

This guided tour with one of our qualified and enthusiastic coaches over 2 days and 1 night will provide you with an unforgettable experience. You never know, you might even get a seal or porpoise popping up beside you!

All equipment is provided; boat, buoyancy aid, spray deck, paddle, camping kit, cooking equipment, food etc. There’s no need for any special kit, all you need to do is bring warm comfortable clothing for the trip. Of course, if you have your own wetsuit, gear or equipment, you are welcome to bring those too.
